Eighteen months ago Peter severed a lengthy connection with New Plymouth to transfer his knowledge of swimming and baths management to Dunedin. In the art of teaching an art, Mathieson is an ideal tutor. His is the reliable touch of personality which never fails to inspire confidence into the timid maiden or water-shy lad who form a big percentage of the custodian's yearly list of aquatic pupils. From the very earliest days of his swimming career, Peter took a deep interest m the progress of life-saving clubs, and among many other aquatic honors annexed during his residence m Christchurch, is the outstanding merit of being one of the first swimmers m the Dominion to be awarded the official diploma of life-saving.
