BILLY GRIME'S RECORD
His Fighting Career In U.S. A.
Billy Grime's American record is of particular interest at this stage, now that he is about to attempt to win back some of his former glory m Australia.
HIS first bout m the land of big J money was against Doc. Snell on . May 12, 1927, when he . lost over ten rounds. . . ' . He defeated Pico Ramies at Los Angeles on June 20 of the same year, and m the following month scored over Stewart McLean. Both these victories were over ten-round journeys. Grim& next made for New York where ne suffered defeat by "Honey Boy" Finnigan on September 17, but drew with Bobby Nelson m a sixround bout m the same city on January 16, 1928. • . : At Baltimore on February 22, 1928, Billy failed to get better than an even | decision over twelve rounds with Bobby Garcia, while he suffered defeat
by Lampe over 10 rounds at the same place on April 6. Grime also failed to register victory m his last three fights m Yankee Land. He. lost over 12 rounds to Harry Blitman ori May 11 at New York; m July over 'lo rounds to Bobby Mayes at Hartford; and on August 20 at Bridgeport he left the ring a loser after 10 rounds, Steve Smith being his victor. There is a feeling that Grime may improve considerably on his American record when he returns to his homeland, but it cannot be denied that boxing fans m these parts of the Globe expected a great deal more of Grime than came his 'way.
