HANDICAP HIM
Dempster Has Field Day (From "N.Z. Truth's" Wellington Rep.) It looks as though Stuart Dempster will have to be handicapped every time he appears m club cricket m Wellington. LIE made a real meal of the Wellington bowling and rattled up a double century with the brightest cricket he has displayed so far this year. For the sake of the trundlers it is to be hoped that Dempster does not go too far with this habit. In Wanganui, before the English tour, he made centuries nearly every Saturday while he scored 572 m three successive innings including a double century. * Last season Stuart scored 224 and 219. He now has figured m four three-figure opening partnerships of note. j Young Banks helped his skipper against Wellington and between them the pair ran up 23S before Banks was j beaten with 116 to his credit. ■ He played a very nice bat and made free with the bowling to a greater extent than Dempster. With six wickets m hand, Institute has 462 On the board. Midland found the wicket and the Kilbirnie bowling apple pie, and though they dl.d. not score so well as Institute they ran up 424 for seven. All the batsmen ran into double figures, Grant and Turvey leading the way with S3 and 65 not out respectively. Hutt got going against Petone and rattled up 293, Ross leading the way with, a neat S2. Herb. McGirr also hit out freely and was unbeaten with 59. Petone will be hard pressed after losing three wickets for -52 runs. Old Boys and "Varsity did not enter into the scoring spirit, the. former scoring a meagre ISO to which Varsity replied with 86 for four.
