CTANDEN has cleaned up practically everything m amateur circles round Australia, but m viefr of his Olympic bond his action has caused consterna> tion. . * ' Jack has signed a contract to ride on the new Sydney speedway, the Velodrome. It can be taken for granted that matches will be arranged with examateur "Fatty" Lamb, who turned to the cash brigade just before the Olympic tour. Standen has hardly been gracious m his action. . He was able .to take the Australian trip chiefly through the good offices of "Truth" which subscribed towards his arid the expenses of two other members of the Australian team. Among the Australian Olympic cyclists who turned professional after attending the Games were Gerald Halpin (N.S.W.) and Jack King (Queensland), 1920 tourists, and George Dempsey (N.S.W.) and Wally Coppins, the 1924 representatives.
