A Happy Picnic Meeting
(By "The Toff.") "Meet on the level and enjoy clean racing under able administration," is the slogan of the Westport Trotting Club. TTS recent meeting, m spite of wet weather, was a big success. Among the horses that raced at Westport were a few worth a thousand pounds each and several not worth a tenner.' Great Author, son of Author Dillon, resembles his sire and promises to make a fast pacer. Robert Guy, Avhich won the Westport Cup and the Dash Handicap, is a big, strong gelding by Real Guy. He has lots of speed and is a good stayer. The classy trotter at the fixture was Nelson Parrish, -which will be m. dress circle company next season. b The brilliant Golden. Ore is racing :green, - fc.ut when he settles down he will wind the clock up pretty tight. 7 The New .Brighton-trained Arikitoa still has a lot up his sleeve. He played with the field in' the big race onbthe first day and it is only a question of his remaining sane to down some of the flash - moderates . at the metropolitan fixtures, b -by.. ....
