A CHAMPION
Prince Pointer's Fine Win
(From "N.Z. Truth's" Auckland Rep.) Though Prince Pointer was beaten into third place m. the Auckland Cup he made them look cheap m the C.hampion l-fandicap. UB did not begin as quickly as others and was well back most of the way. •..'.- At the half-mile peg Jackie Audubon, Jewel Pointer, Gold Jacket, Kohara, Cardinal Logan, Padlock and Talaro were m a bunch m front. Tucked m behind on the rails was the "Prince." b .'..'.-, Tomkinson took him on the outer nearing'the quarter-mile disc, but even turning for home he was not m the first half dozen. / Down the straight he was let loose and tearing into it he came home a neck m front of Koharai. It was a slashing finish, for Gold Jacket was only a neck away third and Cardinal Logan only a head further back. . . \ ' , What amazed onlookers was the speed Prince Pointer unwound, for he 'had to cover a lot of extra groundcoming round the field and he finished wide but. . Prince Pointer is m great trim and if there is a faster sprinter m New Zealand "Truth" says produce him.
