IN THE BOOM
Swimming Round Taranaki (From "N.Z. Truth's" New Plymouth Rep.)' Swimming, thanks., to the encouragement that has been given m the schools of late, is now on the boom m Taranaki. TT has taken on well ,. down 'the coast,, where new baths .have been built and a new club has' been formed at Okato. Already, though the weather has been rather cold, successful carnivals have been held at New Plymouth and Waitara. . This latter club is going to be a power to be reckoned with this year. On Wednesday it almost cleaned up the programme at New. Plymoiith. A. Webb won the inter-club 50 yards from 25 starters, representing five clubs and he also won the seven widths race. . H. St. George, of Waitara, won the 100 yards and Miss D. Fowler, the ladies' race. At Waitai-a, next night, Misses Fowler and Partridge dead-heated. Other promising swimmers: m C. Tate and C. Ambury also scored.
