Green Violets
"r-REEN VIOLETS" is the title, and pale green -the cover, of a little verse-book turned out by Miss Molly Howden, . who is Sir Truby King's adopted daughter. , The young lady, who has 'been a poem -contributor for some time to Australian arid Now-Zea-land papers, deserves a friendly welcome to the ranks of those who have arrived at the dignity of having a book published. Molly. Howderi's poetry is that of youth — very simple, very sincere, and m many places very charming. She has a true sense of rhythm, gritce m metre, and delicacy of thought. , The "Green Violets" aren't very splendid or imposing flowers, but they have a perfume which many New Zealanders will like. Good luck, Molly Howden. There are many ferns but none too many fairies m our bush, and a few N.ew Zealand girls and boys, with youth still very bright m their eyes, are trying to set that right. They deserve to succeed, and the "Green Violets" have a place m- the small bouquet which we hereby hand to our young poets..
