JUST APATHY?
Auckland's Sanders ( Gup Entry (From "N.Z. Truth's" Auckland Rep.) C. A. Moller, chairman of the Auckland Yacht and Motor-boat Association, had something to say about the apathy of northerners m regard to the Sanders Cup contests. "QOIJTHERN men look upon Aucku land yachtsmen as the cream of participants m the sport m Australia and New Zealand, and they therefore look to boating -.men of the Waitemata to give a lead," -he said. That may '-or 'may not be, but his remark that Aucklanders are spoonfed m boating/ and, under the impression that they have, as much as they want, they adopt the attitude of "why worry," certainly hit the nail on the head. , \ There is a belief among northern, yachtsmen that the object of the Sanders Cup has been defeated on the grounds that boys, for whom the contest was originally intended have been excluded because of the "rich man putting up the price." What the delegate of the Devonport Club meant by that remark is not clear, but 'it is obvious that some Auckland clubs are not keen on supporting a challenge from the north.
