AT OAMARU
Two Good Fields Engaged NELSON~DE GRO (By "The Toff.") . At Oamaru on Friday, tyvo trotting events figure m the programme of the Oamaru Jockey Club, and good fields are engaged m each event. TN spite of the fact that he has eighteen opponents, Nelson de Oro will go out favorite for the Waikaura Trot: The reason is through his prominent display over a mile and five furlongs at Porbury, when he beat all but that good colt, Sir Author. But had it not been for Nelson de Oro shying at a water-cart a furlong from home, he might have beaten Sir Author, for he was m front and going easily when it happened. So on that form he should be hard to beat on Friday, for he starts from his original mark. On account of the handicaps for Oamaru having been declared before the Forbury meeting was held, and by reason of Nelson de Oro only finishing second he escapes a penalty for Oamaru. ' ' There it is m a nutshell. Should any of the opposition threaten danger it might be Le Thorpe or Star Lady. In the Landon Trot Handicap, Star Lady, also is engaged, so if she runs into a place m the Waikaura Handicap she should go well m the Landon Handicap. Admiral Bingen has done a lot of work /m saddle, and will have to be reckoned with. If Logan Brae and Reta McKinney go kindly, they will keep Star Lady and Admiral Bingen very busy.
