WHAT ABOUT HIM?
Raima Is Costing The Punters A • Lot of Money A TROTTER WITH FUNNY WAYS I (From "N.Z. Truth's" Special Auckland Representative.) Of late, Raima is proving nd gentleman to follow. In short, he has punters m a quandary.
tHIS is all because they can come to no definite conclusion regarding his ability, though his handling has hot been entirely convincing. In three starts up no ( rth of late he has Carried a bundle of solid' cash, and m only one instance did he appear to enter into his job seriously, when he improved 3 3/6 sees, on his handicap. ■ That was on the second day of Otahuhu, when he finished third after a fairly reliable exhibition of trotting. 9h opening day of that fixture he cracked up early, after which his driver evidently appeared to regard his task as hopeless, for no serious effort was made to go after the money. At Waikato' he moved off satisfactorily and appeared to be trotting well and under a pull m the early stages.
Eventually he made a run from well back and took second place before the home .turn. - . After this no continued effort appeared to be made to improve matters, though when the race was actually m safe keeping of others the whip was brought into play on Raima, and he eventually finished seventh. It surprised onlookers when Raima failed to keep his forward position after a brilliant rush, and even more so was the surprise when no mention was made of . Raima's driver being asked to explain ihe position. * Raima certainly showed enough speed to be expected to smoke home at some future date. He appears to have some funny ways — does this Raima.
