SPRINTING HIS FORTE
vir©cix orair iyo orccix osteal Over A Mile
(From "N.Z. Truth's" Special Christchurch. Representative): When Great Star lost the prize m the Tycho Handicap at Timaru through his jockey failing to draw the weight, a lot of punters decided to button-up and wait.
HE was produced again at Ashburton, and he was backed as a certainty, but his supporters failed to take* a very important factor into consideration. At Washdyke he beat a good horse m First Raid, over six fur- • longs, and was flying at the finish. At Ashburton he was started m a mile race and at the end of six and ahalf furlongs he had had enough.
He might have seen it out had he not been made so much use of. They rah the mile m 1.40 3-5 and Great Star was responsible for the pace all the way to the distance. This performance can be overlooked. Sprinting is Great Star's forte up till the present, and up to six or seven furlongs he will still take a power, of beating m his class.
