Beau Geste Does His Part Right (From "N.Z. Truth's" Christchurch Rep.) For a three horse pace, the open handicap at Ashburton on Saturday was a thriller. THE race was run to suit Front Rank, with a slow pace m the early stages, but Beau Geste, the favorite, lived up to his best form. He was under a hard pull till three furlongs from, home and as they straightened up he joined issue with Front Rank and Sir Roy. . The three battled it out m lino over the last furlong, but the Beau gave a taste of his gameness to get the verdict by a head. The winner put up a courageous effort, and if he accompanies Frank Clarldge's team to the West Coast, at Christmas he should be -unbeatable. Front Rank staged a come-back to her best form and lasted on better than Sir Roy. Hughie Burns is keen to sell her and get back to the saddle, and she looks a cheap mare .at the figure asked, ■ .•■•.-■ ■ ■ ■ •
