"CURES" THAT ARE CURIOUS

Absurd Claims of Restoring Cancer Victims To Health, Making The Blind See, and The Lame Walk, Backed by Pentecostal People MORE ABOUT THE FATUOUS STEPHEN JEFFREYS (From "N.Z. Truth's" Special Wellington Representative) ft . ' — ~ Some weeks ago, there appeared m a Wellington daily paper an advertisement striking enough m its claims to arrest the attention of helpless cripple and sceptical medico alike. "Marvellous healings" stated this optimistic screed, printed m large type. "Come and hear the testimonies of those who have been healed of cancer, crippled limbs, blind eyes, and many other afflictions" was how an invitation to attend the Pentecostal Church was worded. Who was the miracle-worker who could lay claim to "marvellous healings?" None other than Pastor Stephen Jeffreys, whose doings and undoings m England were the subject of an article m "N.Z. Truth" a few weeks ago.
