Good Man Going
SO W. G. Riddell, Wellington's popular magistrate, is retiring? Well, of course, retirement is the' natural thing for a successful man; but it does not meet with the approval of his selfish admirers, who think that a man's age is not a matter of years, but of ■ how old the subject himself really feels. However, let us not .labor the point. It is sufficient to know that the Wellington courts will be a definite loser. So long have they had • the. benefit of Riddell's mature and far-seeing judgments that it will be necessary to comb our legal ranks most closely to find a man whose ability qualifies him for such a post. On Riddell let us pass this sentence: Without the option, you are to have years and years of pleasant and carefree retirement, your cup of content-, ment seasoned with the thought of years' well spent.
