GOOD THING

What A Gallop Told Early Ones (From "N.Z, Truth's" AvcJsland Rep,) There was'one "good thing" at Takapuna, but only the early birds shared m the spoils. T^HE "good thing" was Jolly Money, m the Melrose Maiden, Tiis sprint over three furlongs making him next door to an absolute moral at even weights m a maiden, lot. One trainer made him run a shade under 36sees. for an actual three furlongs. Had that sprint trial not leaked out, Jolly Moneys price would have been much larger than it was, but it was really a great price for such a. good thing. The Paper Money nag did the job m very comfortable style, and with a rise of eleven pounds next day trounced a hack lot again m easy style and ran seven' furlongs m 1.28 3-5. Jolly Money claims that great mare of morethan a decade back, Jolie Fille, as his dam, and he has I evidently inherited, her galloping trait. As a two-year- old last season, Jack Kemp's colt gave promise m private without getting on the winning list, but having come solid, he is not likely to be forgotten m future. He should go near getting one of the big hack races at Ellerslie, and will be one of those deserving of strict consideration , when the seven furlong Robinson Handicap comes up for decision on Auckland Cup day.
