Jottings About Town
Ladies First TF, as everybody's saying very per- ■*• sistently, a new election isv on the cards, it's to be hoped that our women candidates will find enough support to persuade then* to keep trying. A fine showing was made by every one of them, and' it is recognized that "women, In politics, work against an almost insuperable ■obstacle— the inexplicable faith of their own sex m anything m trousers. . ' When the results "went ; up on the election \board, on the' memorable night of November 14, one woman m the ■crowd gave a beautiful example or the outlook with which most women survey politics. ■ ."None of the "women m," .said she, with gusto, "and a good thing, • too. They ought to be home.■mindr- • ing their husbands." • To an unprejudiced eye, it may seem that if husbands require such a deal of dandling, it's time somebody more independent and capable had the front seat m the; Government buggy. Time, however, must do its stuff before that is arranged, and m the meantime we can only hope that our gallant lady politicians will keep oh both smiling and trying.
