Seven Furlong Maiden Opens Day
(From "N.Z. Truth's 11 Special Auckt land Rep.) . : . ■ It will be just as well for punter's at Takapuna this week to pay - some respect to barrier positions. ESPECIALLY .' will this be so when "-• they hop off from the six and seven furlong pegs, for a good horse on the inner at these points has more than a little on a good horse oh the outer. The opening event is a seven-fur* long maiden, with nothing so far made public of outstanding ability m the list. ' Jamieson has one engaged m Footpa's, which would be the rage if it was known that improvement was made since last season. Jolly Money has been a disappointment on race days so far, while Red. Lion and Becalmed are a pair which have placed form m the minor" events this spring. Sir Mohd is a prospective winner during the season, while of the remainder, Tanieri, Aggressive (a Derby hope . from Sid Hodge's stable), Valsier and Black Ma ire are best known. George Paul has one engaged m Just Nell, with only one race so far. There is plenty of room f>6r a surprise victory from the twenty-five acceptors, but on public form it looks as if the final promises' to be between RED LION, BECALMED.
