POLITICIANS are not the only memL bers of the community who are receiving public attention at the present time. Ask Herbert Harry Sterling, he knows. His name is as well known and as much talked about as Wellington's belated war memorial. Notoriety came his way as the rosult of the Government reappointing him to the position of general manager of New Zealand's snail--1 ■-■ ways. '
Rumor has it that the Railway Board didn't see eye to eye with Gordon Coates — or vice versa — so the latter called m the inimitable Sterling again. Rumor, of course, often a. very lying jade,' also murmured that H.H.S. was receiving a retainer from the Government while he was dabbling round with the executive side of dairy companies. It's a big. one-man job Sterling holds down at the present time, but If personality counts for anything — and he is undoubtedly the most popular man m the service — then the corner has already been negotiated. . Get him away to his own little castle m Wadestown, "Wellington, among 1 his hobbios. and you'll find what a genial fellow he is. Sterling says the N.Z.G.R.S. will turn up trumps m the long run. He has yet to prove his statements and m the meantime we might add: "Go to it." .
