I he Wanganui 1 earn s Prospects

(From "N.Z. Truth's" "Wanganui Rep.) The weather having taken a turn for the better Wanganui cricketers are getting m some practice m view of the big matches to come. THE first representative match is set down for decision on December 7 and S, so there Is not much time left for players' to play themselves into I form. Among those who may be considered certainties for the river city team may be mentioned Coupland, Holland, Wood, Bernau and Hutchison. Coupland is a new man to Wanganui cricket, but he is a good i all-rounder. He is worth a place for his batting alone, and m addition is a good bowler. Holland, Wood, Hiitchison, and Bernau have proved their worth m many a big- game, though they have not yet struck form. "Pat" London looks like making a lot of runs this season, and he may play himself into the team again. Treadwell appears to have slipped, but only needs practice to strike form. He played- a nice knock last Saturday. "Mick" Darby is as bright and breezy as ever, and is m the running for selection, ancl the same can be said of H. Williams and Sewell. ' " ; Three young- players with good claims for selection if available are Kerr, Giesen, and Hornabrook of the Collegiate School. They would strengthen up both the batting and the bowling. Kerr is a first-class batsman, and Giesen, m addition to being sound with the bat, is a capable wicket-keeper. Hornabrook is above x the average as a trundler. He is a righthander medium pace, and keeps a fine length. v Thrush is another youth showing I much promise,, while Magistrate Barton is a good bat and, though well into the veteran, stage, still one of the smartest fieldsmen m the Old Boys | side. . i Summed up, it may De that the team will be made' up as under: Coupland, Holland, Wood, Bernau, Kerr, London, Giesen, . Hutchison, Williams, Hornabrook, Treadweir or Barton. Such a team should fully extend the best [ Tayanaki can put into the field. i
