Trophy To Be Won On Monday (From ."N.Z. Truth's 1 ' Auckland Rep.) Hack Cups are always popular events and there is one on the final day of. Te Kuiti. It is.to be run over a nine-furlong course and carries m addition to the stake , a gold- cup trophy. y THERE are seventeen entrants, including Leitrim, The Lover, Sports King, Whaka King, Miss Mercia, Star Comet,' Speechless and Brampton. Form on the opening day should throw some light on the, probable result, but it is more .than likely, that Leitrim and The Lover will monopolize the attention of punters. • The, Lover appears to have thrown off his trouble, while victory at Te Kuiti would not debar Leitrim from taking: his place m the Takapuna Plate. .■■/■ So far. Leitrjm lias won up to seven' furlongs only, but he has threatened to go on a further distance successfully. The Lover has already won over a ten-furlong* course. : If this pair are to suffer defeat, Whaka King or Miss Mercia appear the most likely, though the latter's form at. the Dargfiville fixture, a few weeks back, was hardly encouraging. Certainly the i.New , Plymouth filly has had time to freshen up.
