CO decisive, was the defeat of Prohibition at the polls last "week that there can be little excuse for the Drys reopening the matter or attempting to force another vote upon the citizens for many years. Prohibitionists say that they had little money, a poor press and that their , forces were not well organized. These assertions are a still further, proof that the people are not interested m their cause. Crusading minorities are invariably active and if there had been any real public support for the Drys they would have lacked neither- money nor- organization. The Poll cost the Dominion a whole lot of money and m. addition there was considerable loss entailed m the temporary upsetting of business always incidental to elections. Evidently the $ example of America — dear and deadly liquSr, murderous "law enforcement," enormous graft, all the incidentals of prohibition that doesn't prohibit—was enough for the citizens of New Zealand. Our people have not abused and can be trusted not to abuse the liberty to make a personal choice whether . they will drink or leave drink alone.
