Money That Was All But Missed (From "N.Z. Truth's" Auckland Rep.) That it sometimes pays to think twice was' plainly evidenced over Tea Time and his two victories at Whangarei. THEY ended m the son of Tea Tray *■ gathering m £360 m stake-money, which he may easily have missed. Tea Time was really never intended as a starter because of the presence of Awarere. As a matter of fact, the owner had to be rung up less than half an hour before acceptance time and pleaded to for the necessary authority. . : . He at first refused, but had a second think and decided to give it a go. ; • It was a; happy "second thought." . Tea Time was away up at Te Aroha and it was a case of a rush trip to get him to Whangarei m time, but he got there. •. ' At one stage of the. journey he was lost, for his owner could not locate by which train he had been transferred from the southern to the northern line. However, m the absence of Trainer Wallace, head-lad Jim Howden knew the ropes, and he; got there safely with his charge. And it was a very pleased head-lad when Tea Time . ran home, m front, the second time of asking. » ;
