A convenient remedy is ' to. wrap the exhaust pipe with asbestos. In : some instances it Is also well to cover .the muffler, since heat. may. blow back from this to the spring control.

After making this provision against overheating the device, have the instrument taken off and serviced, if it is of the mechanical, or frictional type. The hydraulic type will take care of itself when the excessive . heat is removed.
