I (From "N.Z. Truth's" 1 QILVERMINE did what it was preD dieted of him m these columns nftor the Waverley meeting. He showed to much more advantage m the S towards' Handicap at Riccarton. Taranaki punters had a good win over him. ■■--.. : * * * ■ • M Gardner has decided to keep Star Avon, for the Christmas meetings. The big Acre gelding had only been up a short time when he ran second at both the Musterton and Waverley meetings, and Gardner is not going to run the risk of knocking him back by racing Star Ar.ea again too soon. \. # . • . *■■. The Potoa — Peterche gelding m the same stable as Star Area is shaping up well He will probably do the Taranaki circuit at Christmas time. # # * Limosa was a bit sore after racing at Waverley, and is being treated to a let-up. Jt is unfortunate that this mare is more or less unsound, otherwise she would probably win some good races for W. H. Dwyer. • #* ■ * Just So la a cot case, as the foot injured during the winter again gave trouble on the eve of the Waverley meeting, and the half-sister to Kiosk did not fulfil '.her engagement. The foot has been opened up and it is believed this speedy filly will make a good recovery. 9 • •■#■■■..•■'■■' • At present Praeda and Bank Note are the only horses m Dwyer's stable In 'work. The former is : going along nicely, but she is hot showing the brilliance which she promised. •■..* .' ■ *■•..■■■..*. An English-bred gelding recently purchased by T. Long from A. B. Williams is now m F. Lind's. stable. The gelding is by .He — Sky Dream; and though .lie is only a three -year -old he will' have to race as a-, four -year -old. If looks go for anything this selding should turn out mpre / than useful.
iVanganui Representative.) There is no chance of Episode fulfilling her engagement m the Feilding Stakes, and it is doubtful whether she will be ready to race at Auckland at Christmas. She is still sore, and though steadily improving, the spell from the tracks will put her back. It wili be the autumn before she can be expected to regain her brilliancy if she is going to do so at all. * . # • ' Calithe is galloping m fine style . on the tracks, the race at Waver- , ley. having improved him. Such a good jumper with his pace ought to pick up some hurdle races. ' # • * Bank Note has had a long spell, but efforts are being made to get him ready for the Christmas meeting. He appears sound enough and "if he keeps right and behaves himself, he should win a race or two.
