TWO OF THEM
Latest Is Living Up To Name
When Harry Spratt called a Bisogne horse he owned Mendip he came m for a lot of banter. COR m years gone by Harry had an--1 other Mendip, and a good horse he was, too.' ■ / He won races all over the country and was a Taranaki favorite. But this latest Mendip is living up to the. name. When he first raced he was rattleheaded, but now he has settled down i and gives next to no bother at the peg. He won two races m successive days at Riccarton, and on both occasions he was responsible for a very good effort. On Saturday he got chopped at the start, and again a little later, with. the result his rider was at him all the way. Then he won handsomely. Trouble again came his way on Monday and for a big part of the journey he was galloping with his head m the air. » Too great notice cannot be taken of this, for it is a habit of his, but just the same it was no .mean performance to cover the ground he did. There is every reason to expect Mendip to win a decent handicap this season. ■
