Silver Paper Proves Expensive
Punters had a sickener of Silver Paper after the first two days at Riccarton. . I TIE vva : 3 well supported m the ** Stewards, only to fail, to show up at any stage of the journey. His rider said afterwards that he went a very ordinary race. But on Monday m the Derby the public again stood to him and they bundled the coin m. If ever a Derby was run to suit [a non-stayer it was on Monday last, but then Silver Paper failed to clothe necessary. He had every chance, too: Looking at the race the impression was gained that "Didham was saving him for one run.' If that was his plan he saved him too long, for it has to be admitted that he should have been third, at least. Just when the race was over Silver Paper arrived with . a wet sail, but could not get into the money. It seems that Paper Money is destined not to get a Derby.winner. -' The chance was there this week, but it could not.be grasped.
