Wanganui Cricket Troubles (From. "N.Z. Truth's" Wanganui Rep.) i The prospects •for the new cricket season m Wangantii look bright so far as the enthusiasm of members of the various clubs is concerned and the number of new members. THERE is a fly m the ointment, how- * ever, and. strange as it may seem that is. music. The Dominion championship band contest is to be held m Wanganui m February . and this will mean that -the .principal cricket ground (Cook's Gardens) will be m use for band contesting r purposes for a; couple of weeks'^ or* so. '-•^■Jr'., The dearth of grounds suitable for - cricket m the river city is a .great drawback to the progress of the game. . Cook's GaVdens is taken up on several Saturdays for athletic sports, and these,' with the bands, r^vill interfere ; considerably with cricketers this sseason.e cason. ■.
