Stewards' Handicap, but the performance of the Acre gelding at Trentham on Saturday proves that the F°rdell mentor knew that Consent was more brilliant than some supposed. # #...#■ Tilley expected Consent to win the Wanganui Guineas and he liked his chance on Saturday. -* The son of- Acre will now be among the favored for the big sprint at Riccarton. • - ' - ## . * T. A. Duncan is having a big run this eeason. Laughing Prince, Consent and Cashier have already won between them over £2000 for the Hunterville sportsman and there is more m sight. # # ' * W. Rayner was confident Mask would run a good race m the big handicap at Trentham, but lie was even more hopeful about Lysander m the Shorts. Mask did his part, beating all but the winner, but Lysander failed. He may never come back but he has not been up long and there is still some chance for him. 4 ». # * W. H. Dwyer has the two-year-old filly, Praeda, m steady work. She will race at Feilding if she goes on all right. She is. furnishing into a nice-looking filly. # # * ' With the race at . Waverley, Star Area should be m great fettle by the time the Feilding meeting comes round and the Acre gelding should then be worth watching. #.' * * Teucer, a six-year-old son bf Elysian, had shown more than average jumping ability before the Waverley meeting. He is a quick, natural jumper, though inclined to run down his hur*dles. He is owned by lan Higgie, who is a keen huntsman. ' # * '■ - * The trip to Auckland did Episode no good. She was never really right while away, though fairly well for the G.N. Guineas. After that race she was very sore, and is not right yet. It is doubtful whether she will be ready to raoe at Feilding, but Rayner has hopes of the Limond filly being fit to take her place m the G.N. Derby at Ellerslie at Christmas. # * # • Whether Episode will run out a mile and a-half remains to be seen. So far this season she has not shown . the brilliancy expected of her, but the chances are she will prove herself later on. . # # :* Though Pedestal did not have a race while away m the north with the rest of Rayner's team, the son of Thespian came back greatly improved m appearance. He was. given his first sprint over a. couple of furlongs the other' day and he acquitted himself m a very pleasing manner . :
