Truth" who were very interested m "Dr. Sir Richard Grant" happened to be at, the hotel when the tailor calied.And when they asked him whether he recognized a photograph of Gunter as; the likeness of the man he sought, they were not surprised to find that the two identities coincided. He told ,them that Gunter, or Hunter, or Grant had ordered an eleven-guinea suit, and was not a little chagrined at the thought that m all probability lie would never hear of the man again. : Subsequent-enquiries at Sayes Court, one of the better-class private hotels, and situated m Aurora Terrace, proved that no one answering to the description of the three personalities outlined above had made application for accommodation on the previous afternoon. When steps were retraced to Lamb-, ton Quay, it was resolved to test the hotels which range along the quay m the direction of Wijlis Street. "Oh, yes, we have two Mr. Grants staying here," "Truth's" investigators were told at the booking office of the Gresham. "Which one. do you want?" Here, indeed, was a poser,: but a brief description of Gunter, and particular mention of the round sca'rion his left cheek, soon elicited the ..information that, the man they 'sought occupied room number twenty-seven.
