Loyal Service
EVEN the best of men must retire some time. And now, after a ..->■:' period of service of more than 23 years, A. ll. Thompson, workshops superintendent of the Christchurch Tramways Board, is taking the rest that his long years of conscientious' service entitle him to. Needless to say, the occasion has not been exactly a. happy one, for Thompson has, m all things, done as he would be done by. However, his colleagues showed him that ' his" post work was appreciated. And even if the farewells were tinged with regret. It is gratifying for a man to know that he'wul be missed. A.H.T. is one of those mortals to whom. Life is something more than a period m which ; we are to make as much money as we can. Intensely interested m local affairs, he has been one. of those who prefer to do the work that no one hears about. Well, retirement is every .man's goal, 'tis said, but it's hard 4;o lose a man who is — m every way— one of the best.
