"Bill," M.P.
HIS cobbers call him "Bill," but on the floor of the House, he is known as William James Girling, the member for Blenheim. Sox, singlets, and hankies laid the foundation of his fortunes, for W.J.G., since 189S has had control of the soft, goods business founded by his dad when -Marlborough Province was very yqung. He is as good a politician as he is an all-round sport ahd^ m the early days of rowing when the Heggluns and the Bridsons. were m the boom, Bill pulled an oar with the best, of 'em. General election prospects look good for him! at. the moment, and whispers float that Cabinet rank may yet come his way. He is deserving of it anyhow.
