Artistic, Yes
ARTISTIC talent runs In the family l\ with Miss D. K. Richmond whose landscapes are so often shown when our Academy rolls up its coat sleeves for a fresh display, and who herself, m conjunction with Miss Helen Stewart and Edmond Atkinson, gave a private exhibition this year. Miss Richmond's father was a scenic artist of distinction, and the Atkinsons, who are family connections, are artistic almost to a man. Some of Miss Richmond's sunny little landscapes show the blue waters of York Bay, Wellington, usually with a Titian -haired child playing m the foreground. The red hair, like the flair for painting; is a family characteristic, and York Bay, with its glorious bush and seclusion, belongs very largely to the Atkinson family. : Here, m one of the most interesting old houses 'm New Zealand, originally the property of the late Sir Harry Atkinson, who Prime Ministered New Zealand m the good old days, Miss Richmond .formerly lived, m company with hundreds of landscapes, thousands of books 'and a tame seagull. Miss Richmond is aßohemiari of the old school, and spends a good deal oi time gipsying m search of new material for her pictures.
