Case Collapsed
THE endeavors of Lily Hannah 1 Slater to saddle Horace White, of Otahuhu, with the paternity of her child, proved fruitless, for her case collapsed on continuation before Magistrate McKean at Auckland last week. The magistrate did-npt ask. for ; evidence for the defence, and, m dismissing the case, said that he was satisfied no order could be made. ' , "On her own evidence, ©yen the girl could not say who was the - father of the child," remarked the S.M. Some of her evidence was contradicted by her sister, Francis A|ice Slater, and her sister's evidence' could .have! been used as corroborative against another man m the case. • His worship, would dismiss the case without calling on the defence;
