Charming Hostess
F TSUAKLY the wives of men m poliU tics are rather painfully serious people, doing their duty unto God, their husbands and their husbands' constituents m a somewhat tiresome manner. An entire exception is Mrs. W. H. Field, wife .of Otaki's well-known "Billy," who lives up on the Terrace, Wellington, along with sundry collie dogs, her husband and her son, Peter, a lad whose muscles are well and favorably known m Varsity rowing outfits. Mrs. Field spends half her time on the family farm . at Otaki, for her "heart's m the Highlands" of her husband's violet-growing electorate. But she has a lovely-old home on the Terrace. Here, through the session months, she plays hostess ■ to a large list of friends. She has a particular weakness, for young folk—her parties are always informal and jolly affairs. On the occasion of her visits to Wellington, Mrs. Noel Pharazyn, smart, petite and vivacious, is her mother's right-hand man. Both mother and daughter are among the most popular figures . m Wellington society.
