FINE FORWARDS
Taihape Cracks Line (Prom "N.Z. Truth's" Wanganui Bep.) Taihape , Old Boys proved too ' good for Wanganui Marist when the two teams met to .decide which was the champion team of the Union. The game which was for the Adams Trophy was colorless. "THE visiting forwards were too good for their opponents both m the loose and: m scrum work. They got possession nearly 'every time. Their backs did. not make much use of their opportunities, ■ though Reg. Collier and W, Collier put m some great linekicking. ■.'■ •■ , \ . ■"•,..■ .->. • Reg. -Collier made some fine openings and showed much of his old-time cleverness, but he had not the condition to carry on the good ■ work. Of the visiting forwards, allof whom .played well,, arid Johnny Loughnafne' were outstanding, arid; the way they, broke through time after time was ; a treat to watch. They were much superior •to any- of the Marist vanguard. i - There was a' lack of combination among the Marist backs, and not' a single one played up to senior form. It is quite evident that Taihape football is of a: higher standard than, that pertaining m Wanganui | both m regard to club games an.d. representative matches. "A Taihape representative team reqently,: decisively beat a Wanganui team; 'while Saturday's display showed thait the best club ; team. In Wanganui was riot good enough for Taihape's club champions.
