Plenty of Winners From There (From "N.Z. Truth's" Auckland Rep.) As a training centre, Waipa (Te Awamutu) has sprung into prominence of late years, and it is a noticeable fact that most outside trainers who have> drifted there ■ prefer to remain. FRANK LOOMB was the first real * . outsider to realize that track conditions at the Waipa course were encouraging for the preparation of racehorses. It is t,he general belief that since he shook the dust off his feet at Gisborne and made for the Waikato township he has pushed himself well on the way to independency. . Among others who followed on were A. Cook, Bert Russell and Bill Stone. All these have been associated with a fair number of winners since taking up their abode there, while the whole racing world know only too well the success met with by the team presided over by George Paul. He may be referred to as the "old identity," so far as Waipa is concerned. Another who won races with his team while located at Te Awamutu is George Held, but that mentor has since transferred to Te Aroha. To get back to Waipa track conditions, it would seem that wintry weather is no bar to getting horses ready for the early spring when it is quoted that both winners of the last two juvenile Avondale Stakes, Prodice and Supremacy, have hailed from that quarter. , : Te Kara, which won the Avondale Cup last year and finished third m the same race last Saturday, also received his preparations on the Waikato track mentioned. . . The many notable victories of Aussie, Awarore, Desert Glow and others are certainly a great advertisement for Waipa racecourse aa training grounds. • There is evidently nothing wrong with the Te Awamutu track. iiiiiiiiiniiiiiiiiiiiiiiuDiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii
