TTOCKEY and the Boy Scout moverl nient has no more" ardent and enthusiastic supporter m Manawatu than Frank Thomas Vasey, who during, office hours is to be found directing the advertising campaigns of one of Palmerston North's drapery houses and drafting copy that sets all bargain loving housewives' hearts agog w:ith pleasurable excitement arid the anticipation of happy hours of economical shopping. Brought into 'the world m New-castle-on-Tyne, London, * Vasey was. educated at the Royal Grammar School, and early hearing Kitchener's call enlisted with the Durham Infantry, and so well ;did he do his little bit that after five years' service he had worked his way from -Second Lieutenant to a Staff Captainship. He did hot escape injury, but his leg wound has failed to damp his ardour or to make him less cheery, and he still follows all kinds of sport.Coming to New-Zealand a few years ago he spent a few months m Wellington before Palmerston North beckoned to him, and Manawatu hockey gained an indefatigable enthusiast, a doer rather than a sayer.
