So far as quality Is conoerned, there may.be a limited few which will eventually pay their way m open company, but they are mostly of ordinary calibre. '. In the first batch Money displayed better than maiden promise m private as a two-year-old, but failed to notch a stake, while Eager Rose had good placed form towards the end of the winter. Mauriaena had Marton and Wanganul racing, but did not oome through the trip absolutely safe. Yet, if started, Is duo to carry the hopes of her connections once again. Mountain Guide, Optimistic, Brampton and Sulla are others with prospects. When they race home, three m the picture may be Eager Rose, Jolly Money and Mauriaena; The second division lot boast at ■least three with placed form to work oh — Parfalt Amour, Arlkitoa and Blue Spear. The last-named appears more solid than formerly, while others to oome into calculations on the trip may be Valquette and Red Lion. Red Lion Is not the horse he will bo later m his career, but only has to race the starter to make a bold bid. A trio m at the calling may prove to be: RED LION. BLUE SPEAR and VALQUETTE.
