The talent displayed shows that Wanganui compares very favorably with the bigger centres, and with the interchange of visits of boxers from Wellington and Palmeraton North, which it Is hoped to arrange at an early date, much good will result to both boxers and the association. The evening was remarkable for the manner m which the majority of the bouts were fought. Whirlwind tactics and the willingness to trade punches was a feature of practically every contest. In the heavy division Gus. Carlson scored a comfortable win over Adams, of Marton. the winner giving a very finished exhibition. It is hard to understand how he missed being awarded the gold medal for the most scientific boxer. Incidentally, this was Carlson's last appearance m the ring, he having decided to give the game best.

Corliss earned the decision over Eagle, of Taihape, and H. Scowan (Patea) lost to Freitas (Taihape). The three lightweight contests were brimful of "stoush" and thrills. This section produced tho best bouts of the night. Clarke (Wanganui) beat Burke (Wanganui) and R. Forward (Wanganui) won over Teddy Mercer (Patea) by a very narrow margin. The bout between O'Keefe (Palmerston North) and Clegg (Wanganui) was a terrific battle, both men swapping punches with rare abandon and raising the fans to unbounded enthusiasm. The verdict, a draw, was loudly cheered, and both boxers received an ovation on leaving the ring.
