"Electric Annie"
PERHAPS the title was applied because of the shocks which Annie so frequently administered to our local police. She cduld thieve so quickly, according to Mrs. Glover of the Salvation Army, that you could be looking at her and expecting her to do so— yet never realize that your pocket had been picked till Annie was over the hills and far away. But the best of us have our slack moments and Annie eventually came before the police courts— and-^tbence into the expectant arms. of the Salvation Army. "At first," said Mrs. Glover, "Annie seemed one of our most hopeless cases. But I wish that I dared to give you her photograph now— taken m her -wedding gown . . . Her husband is m a decent position, respected everywhere, and, since their marriage, Annie has given him a little girl." Girls like Annie come very frequently into Mrs. Glover's life, for she was seven years probation officer m the courts before taking up her present work of helping friendless girls who come before, the magistrates.
