The Moral Aspect
Off wood's conduct was' made by Magistrate Mosley, who said Offwood got all he deserved. "This is not a court of morals, but one purely of law," commented the S.M. "But the moral aspect does leak m sometimes— -I think it must leak m through the doors — and one has some sympathy for the accused, but none for Offwood, who got all he deserved. "But the law must be observed and the accused-, went further than he should have done. He Is convicted and discharged." "Is there any chance of asking for costs?" asked the chief- detective. "You have not the . slightest hope," commented the magistrate. An interesting sequel was enacted as Offwood and Mrs. Gardner left the courthouse. While they were m the yard, Gardner's divorce petition, citing Offwood as co-respondent, was served upon them, - ■With the morning sunshine beaming down upon them, they read over the citation, apparently finding much to amuse them judging by the frequent smiles which stole ' across their faces. For ten minutes or. so they stayed pondering over the papers and then they walked off together towards the city, leaving Gardner at the courthouse door receiving the .congratulations of his friends. ninnnaimimiimiminminiiuiiiiiiiMritiiMiiuiitiinniitmnturiiiiiniiiiiiiininmimniiuiHiiuitiiim iiiiiiiMiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiKiMiiiiiiiiiiiiiiuiiitiiiiiiiiiimiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiitiiiiiiiiniiniiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii
