Trotting President On The Mat (By "The Toff") Charges of having made- certain derogatory remarks about the New Zealand Trotting Association over the Free Advice case will be preferred against W. E. Thompson, president of the New Brighton Trotting Club, before long. THOMPSON will appear before the 1 next meeting of the Board of the Trotting Association to show cause why he should not be dealt with under rule 341, section. P., of the New Zealand Rules of Trotting. The remarks made by ThomPr son which are alleged to bo a breach of the rule quoted are as follows: — . "Right through, the Association has not taken a fatherly interest m the clubs. It has sought for a' . way, fair or otherwise, to defeat the object of the rules under whloh the club aoted." Rule 841 (section P.) is aa follow*: "If any person shall write or cause to be written, publish or cause to be published, utter or cause to be uttered, any improper, insulting or abusive language with reference ,to the Conference or the Association, or members or officials thereof, he may be deemed guilty of a corrupt practioe, and may be fined any sum," etc.
