BIG RACE AT BRIGHTON

Harvest Child and Bay Nut Have Possible Chances (By "The Toff."). THE Burwood Handicap will be the chief event on the programme A of . the New Brighton Trotting Club on Saturday. The distance is two miles and the stake is 300 soys.

FOLLOWERS of form must listen to Bay Nut m. a 4.40 class. He competed m three two-mile races at the August meeting of the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club, and was m the firing line all the way. He has shown that he can go the journey m much faster time than he is handicapped to do, and being a reliable pacer, he should get the money. At Addington, Pirpo surprised the critics by leaving the mark kindly m harness and going well for a mile and a-half. Up to now, he has no form to recommend him over a two-mile journey. * 1?.'.". ' 7 He has a great turri of speed, and when conditioned for a journey he ° may collect a prize. At present, he is on a 4.40 mark, so he could dawdle over the first mile and a-half, and sprint home the next four furlongs. But it is not expected that he will be capable :of doing that on Saturday. . ' '

The big mile- course will suit Matagouri, which has regained his balance:

He has won over two miles and should 'be close' to Bay Nut all the way. Neerson, which is also on the 12yds. mark, has been engaged previously over two-mile journeys. Judging by his form last season it is quite on the cards that he will develop into a goqd moneywinner this season. He is bred m the purple, and is a good racehorse. Until the acceptances are declared one- does not know whether the trotter, Maxegin, is going to take on the pacers or not. He is a quick beginner, and on his recent successful displays he should be at home among the hoppled brigade. From 4.38, it will be interesting to note. how he stays on, but on his form at Addington, two miles should not be beyond him. Then farther down the list is Harvest Child, which beat some I , good horses at Addington. It' would appear that the finish on Saturday should be fought out by Bay I Nut, Matagouri, Harvest Child and I Neerson.
