Hush ! Hush !
'"THE son of a family whose name * is synonymous with Poverty Bay," was the description applied by Lawyer Jack Wauchop, of Gisborne, to his olieht, a young man who stood m the dock charged with issuing valueless cheques.
The young man of high birth and low credit was said to have left Whakatane recently, with £500, the whole of which had been spent through excessive drinking. Finding his funds exhausted, he adopted the now more-or-less usual course of writing cheques for which he had no equivalent.
Two years' probation, prohibition, restitution an.d suppression.
