JOSEPH PATRICK HENNESSY, a comparatively young Wellington medical man, who has been prominently within the range of public observation during the last twelve months, has at last adopted the slogan so popular m the American States. Dr. Hennessy has gone west. ' ' . Not by the sounding of percussion instruments nor by the wailing of many pibrochs did he signal his departure, but quietly and by virtue of plans smoothly organized, has ha. departed, regretted by the executive of the friendly societies m Wellington, with whom he appears to have been extremely popular. .if . .. , , , , The British Medical Association m New Zealand knew him not .as a professional man, but whether that was a sign of sound judgment or merely the criterion of prejudice is a subject which does not admit of discussion. Dr. "Joe" Hennessy suffered the misfortune of being associated with an illicit operation upon a Wairarapa girl, but was acquitted. His professional career was somewhat overcast by the cancellation of his driving license for two and a-half years,, and although he subsequently appealed against the decision, he was not adjudged worthy of a remission. - ,' v ■''..'.
