Measure and cut a gasket from a piece of felt, and make a mixture of white and red lead into a stiff paste with . goldsize. This mixture~is worked well into the felt and applied plentifully. The joint is then bolted down hard and the surplus, lead, trimmed off with a knife. The joint 6hould bo given a few days to dry thoroughly, and it will be found that a perfect cure has., been effected. This method of making a joint can be usefully employed m cases of per?, sistent oil leakage from the back axle. ... - ;
