Change In Rules v Disapproved
(From" NJZ.' Truth's" Special Auckland Rep.) Two motions sponsored by G. Sanders and A. A. Martin will claim the attention of members of the Auokland Raolng Club at the ' annual meeting on Monday. . ONE provides for the Increase of the number of the committee from twelve to seventeen members. The other provides for the -whole, via. nine member* of the stewards of the club (other than the president and vice-president as ei-offlcio members). t6 be eleoted by the members of the club Instead of the present method by which three stewards are elected annually by the members and no fewer than three nor more than, six elected by the committee of the club. , . . . . The committee of the club is not , m favor of either motion and has. addressed a circular letter to members pointing out inter alia that no g00.4 reason exists for the increase m the number of the committee. as proposed by the motion. ■'■ Regarding the second motion the clr* , oular states that the committee is unanimously of the opinion that Its adoption will prove Inimical to the best interests of the club and its operations. The committee thinks that -if there are two' elective bodies controlling the club'a operation*;' confusion, discord , and lack of co-operation are bound to \ arise. '■ . . ,■■■/ . ■ '•..■; i It is very plain that the committee ; views the proposed alterations to the *. rules with strong '■ disapproval and In . that case it is very unlikely that either ' motion will be carried, more especially , as the present system has not caused any great dissatisfaction 'm the many i years it has been m force. It wpuld be Interesting to know who were primarily responsible for the, proposals. Mayhap some ambitious mem- . bers aspiring to seats on the com-' mittee and stewards.
Nine of Spades has come on a lot since his Waimate and Timaru outings and his jumpjng r and track work points to him annexing a hurdle race at the National meeting. She lost six lengths' through making a bad jump a mile from home m the Longbeach- Hurdles at Riocarton on Saturday and then finished third to Feneus and Brigadier Bill.
