ON THE NOD?
Auctioneers In the Heeney Stuff
(From "N.Z. Truth's" •Palmerston •;■'•.... •'• North, Rep.) It is not often that one gets something for nothing these hard times, but occasionally, out of the laps of the gods drop tit-bits for the .fortunate., .. . THESE were undoubtedly ;the senti--1 ments of a select little audience which witnessed an unadvertised, but none-the-less, eminently satisfying fistic' battle^ which took place .m one of Palmerßton North's by-ways some days back. . . Forgetting, m the heat of anger, that dignity and decorum which is the attribute of business men, two of the town's auctioneers, so far forgot themselves as to stage an unscheduled amateur bout without rounds, gong, announcer, towels, or any of the conveniences of modern civilized ring "warfareV - And from all accounts, it was a grood fight. ; The scene of the contest was a square timber yard beside the De Luxe theatre/ but hidden from the street by the Surrounding shops. The date, very appropriately, was Friday, 13th ihst.
