Sociable Scatter

AWAY down m Otautau— for the benefit of the ' uninitiated, we may say that this pretty little place is away inland from Invercargill— lives a man who has mastered the art of running a tidy little business and, at the same time, getting a . good healthy share of the enjoyments of life. We refer to William Scatter, known to his friends— which is another way of saying the entire town— as ''Bill." There's not much you can teach "Bill" Scatter about Southland. He thinks it's just about the finest part of New Zealand . . . and there's notj much of the Dominion that he hasn't seen. Gifted with a keen spirit of optimism, he is convinced that Southland will never look back. Just a tip. .If ever you meet him, don't forget to praise Southland m general and Otautau m particular.
